I Met Molly Burke!

On Saturday, I got to meet Molly Burke, as well as her mom and Gallop. I’ve been wanting to meet her so bad since I started watching her videos and following her a while ago.

Molly’s such an amazing, inspiring, sweet young woman. She’s a motivational speaker and YouTuber who also happens to be blind. Her videos consist of lifestyle and fashion videos, as well as videos about her disability. It’s a good mix.

We have so much in common that it’s crazy. We’re the same age, same height, and we’re both advocates for disabilities and mental health. We both love sparkles and the colour purple, dyed our hair purple within a few days of each other, have similar personalities… and I could go on. She seems sweeter than me, though, as I have never heard her swear (ha ha). She says she does, though.

There’s something I realized about Molly as I was thinking about what to write for this. That is, both literally and figuratively, she only sees light. I thought that was kind of a cool thought.

For those who don’t know Molly, let me put this into context for you: Molly has light and shadow perception, which means she can see light and the shadows around the light. Molly is also very positive and often sees the light in things and the light in dark times (if not at first, eventually).

I was so happy to meet her. Meeting her has been on my bucket list for months, because she inspires me so much and because of how similar we are. She’s from Toronto (which is an hour and a half from where I live) and visits her family all the time, so I knew it wasn’t too far out of reach. She was so sweet, as I expected. Gallop was adorable in his bee costume. Her mom was pretty awesome, too. Molly met her fans, and did a small speech and a Q&A. It was just an incredible experience.

Also on my bucket list is a YouTube collaboration with her. That would be pretty awesome.

I wanted to write this to introduce her to my readers and give a shoutout to her.

Molly, if you’re reading this, thank you for what you do. It was a pleasure to meet you.
