How Can You Even Hate Someone Like This? + Pride Photoshoot

I first learned about the LGBTQ+ community briefly from Ellen Degeneres when I was 12 or 13. She said that she was marrying a woman. I was confused and thought that it was a joke at first, because I didn’t know that she was gay beforehand. In fact, I’m not even sure if I knew what being gay meant. When I realized that she was serious, I was like, “Oh, okay. Cool!” I saw nothing wrong with it.

I started to learn more in Grade 10 when my best friend at the time came out to me as a lesbian. Again, I saw nothing wrong with it, because there is nothing wrong with being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Nothing!

Just because it’s not the lifestyle that you would live doesn’t mean that it’s wrong.

I don’t really understand the reason behind hating the way that people live and acting out on/voicing that hate.

It doesn’t do anyone any good. All it does is hurt people.

Some of the homophobic people that I know personally are Catholic and they use that as an excuse. Does a good Catholic, or even just a good person in general, hurt or put others down? Or do they love and accept others for who they are?

As someone who identifies as bisexual, I love being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I can’t say that everyone from the community is amazing and good, but most of them are. Even if they aren’t, it’s not because of their sexuality (they might just be negative or rude people). However, many people in the LGBTQ+ community are loving, accepting, happy, colourful and amazing people.

How can anyone hate anyone who is like that? How can anyone hate even a small part of a person who makes them who they are?

If you remove even a small part of a person, they wouldn’t be the same person. Therefore, you should love and accept them as a whole.

How can you even hate someone like me, who is loving, positive, accepting, colourful, and overall just awesome?
