It’s pride week and for those who know me, pride means a lot to me. Two years ago, I came out as bisexual. It has been a tough journey, in regards to figuring it out, but I have received nothing but love from the LGBT community.
But pride to me is not only about celebrating LGBT, but also sexuality and other differences. Not only am I bisexual, but I also experience stigma and misconceptions towards sex/relationships and disability. Many people think I can’t have sex or have any sexual desires. It’s unfortunate because they couldn’t be more wrong.
Over the past few months, I have been attempting to shatter the stigma regarding sex and disability. First, I made a music video dancing to Body Say by Demi Lovato with a bunch of burlesque friends. It can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlI4B3de85k (not available on mobiles).
My second project was a photoshoot, done by Cally Anna Mae. I had a blast and felt really confident and sexy while dressed in my black and purple lingerie. I haven’t revealed it until now. I got some backlash about the way I presented myself in MY video so It has taken me awhile to find the right time, and strength, to post these. But what better time than pride month?
I am proud of and open about my sexuality. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
So, love or hate it, here they are:
